Here is our Comprehensive Checklist for a Safe, Fun, and Memorable Journey

Southern Utah is a stunning area perfect for road trips with its unique landscapes and national parks. Here are some travel tips for making the most out of your road trip in Southern Utah:

1. Plan Your Route

  • Must-See Stops: Include major destinations like Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Capitol Reef National Park.
  • Scenic Drives: Consider driving Highway 12, one of the most scenic byways in the country.

2. Time of Year

  • Best Seasons: Spring (April to June) and Fall (September to October) offer mild weather and fewer crowds. Summer can be very hot, especially in the desert areas.

3. Vehicle Choice

  • 4WD or AWD: Consider renting a 4WD or AWD vehicle if you plan to explore off-the-beaten-path areas or drive on unpaved roads.

4. Accommodation

  • Book in Advance: Especially during peak seasons, campgrounds and lodges in and around national parks fill up quickly.
  • Camping: Many parks offer both developed campgrounds and backcountry camping. Make sure to reserve ahead or get there early for first-come, first-served sites.

5. Packing Essentials

  • Clothing: Pack layers as temperatures can vary greatly between day and night. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for protection against the sun.
  • Hiking Gear: Good hiking boots, a daypack, and trekking poles can be very useful for exploring trails.
  • Safety Gear: Include a first aid kit, extra water, and a physical map in case you lose cell service.

6. Hydration and Food

  • Water: Always carry plenty of water. Dehydration is a common risk in the desert.
  • Snacks: Bring non-perishable snacks and meals, especially if you’re planning long hikes or drives through remote areas.

7. National Parks Pass

  • America the Beautiful Pass: If you’re visiting multiple national parks, consider buying this annual pass to save on entrance fees.

8. Respect Nature

  • Leave No Trace: Follow Leave No Trace principles. Pack out all trash and respect wildlife.
  • Stay on Trails: Help preserve the fragile desert ecosystem by sticking to marked trails.

9. Local Attractions and Hidden Gems

  • State Parks: Don’t miss out on state parks like Goblin Valley, Kodachrome Basin, and Dead Horse Point.
  • Scenic Viewpoints: Take time to enjoy less-visited spots like Cedar Breaks National Monument and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

10. Weather Awareness

  • Check Forecasts: Weather can change rapidly, especially in mountainous areas. Check local forecasts regularly.
  • Flash Floods: Be aware of flash flood risks in slot canyons and washes, especially during the summer monsoon season.

Whether you’re a seasoned road warrior or a weekend wanderer, keeping your Sprinter van clean is essential for both aesthetics and functionality. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll delve into the art of cleaning your Sprinter van, ensuring it remains a pristine haven for your journeys ahead.

HERE’S WHAT WE RECCMMEND FOR THE BEST RESULTS

    1. Preparation is Key: Before diving into the cleaning process, gather all necessary supplies, including microfiber cloths, cleaning solution suitable for your van’s interior surfaces, a vacuum cleaner, and a soft-bristle brush. Clear out any clutter and remove personal items to access all areas for cleaning.
    2. Exterior Cleaning: Start by giving the exterior of your Sprinter van some TLC. Begin with a thorough rinse to remove loose dirt and debris, then apply a high-quality car wash soap with a soft sponge or mitt. Pay attention to areas prone to grime buildup, such as the wheels, wheel wells, and lower body panels. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a microfiber towel to prevent water spots.
    3. Interior Detailing: Now it’s time to tackle the interior of your Sprinter van. Start by vacuuming the floors, seats, and cargo area to remove dirt, crumbs, and debris. Use a soft-bristle brush to loosen dirt from hard-to-reach areas and crevices. Next, wipe down all surfaces, including dashboard, steering wheel, door panels, and cup holders, with a suitable cleaning solution. Opt for products formulated for specific materials like vinyl, leather, or fabric to maintain their condition.
    4. Deep Cleaning Upholstery and Carpets: For stubborn stains or lingering odors, consider a deeper clean for your Sprinter van’s upholstery and carpets. Spot treat stains with a suitable cleaner and a soft brush, then use a carpet cleaner or steam cleaner for a more thorough refresh. Allow ample drying time to prevent mold or mildew growth.
    5. Finishing Touches: Once the cleaning process is complete, add the finishing touches to elevate your Sprinter van’s appearance and comfort. Apply a protectant to vinyl and leather surfaces to maintain their suppleness and prevent cracking. Consider adding air fresheners or odor eliminators to keep your van smelling fresh and inviting.
    6. Regular Maintenance: To keep your Sprinter van in top condition, establish a regular cleaning and maintenance routine. Schedule periodic washes and detailing sessions to prevent dirt and grime buildup. Promptly address spills and stains to avoid permanent damage to interior surfaces. Everyone just loved being in the same vehicle! We figured we got around 23 mpg! There was 8 of us.

    – Vennette Seymour, real Vroom.Me Van Rental Customer

Our Trip: We drove from St George to Provo, picked up my siblings and their spouses, then went through Price, Utah, and stayed at Cortez, Co. The next day, we drove to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico the next and rented an AirBNB. The bats were not present at the caves so we were able to hike through the natural opening. We stayed there 2 nights. Next, we went over to Southern Arizona and rented another AirBNB for two nights and went to Kartchner Caverns. We then went to Tombstone, AZ and Flagstaff and stayed another night in an AirBNB. Next, we saw the Meteor Crater where 20 football fields could fit on the bottom. It was $25, but well worth it! On the way back we saw the epic Horseshoe Bend then back to Provo via 89 and dropped everyone off and headed back to St George.

Trip Duration: 7 days and ~3000 miles
